John Jaeschke

John Jaeschke is WSN Key Leader. Before retirement, John taught for 32 years in the Madison Metropolitan School District, most recently 8th Grade Physical Science at Thomas Jefferson Middle School where he also served as Learning Coordinator. Presently he is a substitute teacher and is the CEO of Science Consulting, LLC, a consulting company he formed. He is the author of Field Biology: Forest, Field, Stream and Evolution. John founded the Dane Countywide Science and Invention Fair and during the 4 years of operation he received the Invent America Regional Teacher's Award. John has served as a judge for a number of Contests including the NSTA Toshiba ExploraVision Contest, the Science Service's Discovery Young Scientist's Challenge and the National Middle Level Science Teacher's Association's Marteka and Hurd Awards. He has presented numerous programs at conferences, most recently on Environmental Education. He was awarded the NSTA STAR Award (1969) by NSTA in recognition of his contributions. John has served on the Board of WEST and as Recording Secretary. He is Co-Chair of the WSST Document Review Committee, member of the Strategic Planning Committee, and was a member of the 2003 Convention Planning Committee.

At the national level, John served on the NSTA Middle Level Division Committee, as the Recording Secretary of the NSTA International Committee and as NSTA Board liaison to the Retirement Committee. He was NSTA District 12 Director and served on the NSTA Board. John was active in the National Middle Level Science Teacher's Association serving as president and on their board.
